Hey guys, I'm currently having a problem that is most likely tied to Office 2016 as I tested the installation on my 2010 install and had no issues. A colleague needs to join online meetings, that are hosted via Lync. Because he just got a new PC with Office 2016, he is prompted to download and install 'LWAPlugin64BitInstaller32.msi', but the installation fails with the error that it can't find the correct.msi for 'Skype For Business Web Plug-In', which would be 'SkypeForBusinessPlugin.msi'. It's this old dialogue (just had to use Google, because I missed to take a screenshot; Ignore the red marking and filename as this is just to show you which error I'm talking abotu): The real problem is, that I can't find a single darn place to download 'SkypeForBusinessPlugin.msi' as the only site Google shows me on the first pages looks suspicious from the URL given. Skype for Business Mac Client December 2016 Update Summary There’s been an update announced for the Skype for Business Mac client that I’m sure users will be delighted with and that Desktop Sharing is here!! But its noted as in Peer to Peer Audio calls and also Video Based Screen Sharing for Skype for Business Online is here as well.
Once you removed that feature, you should be able to run the web plugin, that usually is deployed, when you open a meeting. Maybe that link helps with getting the right installer: Hope it helps. Sadly, the link doesn't help at all, because there's nothing to download. ![]() The pictures show that it wants you to download Skype For Business, but in my case, it's Lync:/ When I click 'Modify' for Office 2016 Home and Business, it only gives you 2 options: Fast repair and online repair. I clicked nothing, but I'll try tomorrow. It shouldn't really help though, as the Lync Web App installer is looking for the installer for Skype For Business:X Office started to piss me off since 2013, honestly. Okay, here's the solution: • Make sure the user concerned has admin rights (just for this installation, you can revoke the rights afterwards) and is logged in as the Lync plugin can't be installed for every user at once. • Install 'SkypeMeetingsApp.msi', which you can get from this test meeting by clicking on the link in step 1: • Visit and run the Fix It tool by Microsoft (therefore you need admin rights for the user). • Now I don't know the exact english terminology, because I'm german, but choose 'Installation [.]' (should be the upper choice) • Wait for the Fix It tool to finish scanning for installed software • Select 'Skype For Business Web-App' or 'Skype For Business Web App Plugin' (I don't know the exact name anymore) • Choose 'Yes, try uninstalling' and wait for it to finish, then close the Fix It tool • Now try installing the Lync Web App Plugin again, which should now work just fine. • OPTIONAL: In Firefox press CTRL+SHIFT+A to open Add-Ons, go to Plugins and set 'Microsoft Lync Web App Plug-in' to 'always activate', so that your user saves some clicks. User friendly. • OPTIONAL (or 100% needed for some admins): Revoke the admin rights for the user. What these 8 necessary steps seem to be doing is the following: • Installing the plugin for Skype's For Business Web App seems to overwrite some Skype/Lync related stuff that comes with Office 2016 • Uninstalling the plugin right afterwards seems to clear this spot entirely, leaving it open for the Lync Web App Plugin to be installed I only have 3 words for this: F.
